Could we get a BoTB Tourney this year?
Preferably before servers merge, which is a necessity.
Updated rules to allow all clickies that don't have a charge to them would be fantastic. We could exclude flowers for the sake of brevity. It's been over 10 years now and we're due for a velious era BoTB. Thanks

I like some BotB but unfortunately so many others just come down to "who is the best geared and/or who clicked their first spell the fastest"

There are no newer players on this server any longer.
Negating the "charge" component removes all of the crazy OP clickies, such as: all potions, regal band of bathezid, DA earrings, etc. It allows velious era gear (and prior) to be included in a velious era BoTB: Eyepatch of Plunder, Ring 10, flux staff, SS gear clicks which are tactical in nature due to the 30s buff rule, manna robes, VP necro staff, etc. It adds diversity and excitement to a stale process of who clicks faster or who has better gear and provides a greater skill component to it.

Considering how many players on the old PvE servers had little interest in PvP, those BotB tournaments didn't make a lot of sense. Also, on PvE servers the Arena coulda shoulda been filled with NPCs capable of spawning mobs on [command], ones that dropped no loot and awarded no xp, faction, or skill ups. Rather than being an out of the way zone dedicated to PvP, it could have been a place to practice and test patched in changes. But then, the Arena has no body of water/lava, no ice, stairs, locked doors, trees, or other objects to obstruct one's view or block LoS, other than the throne itself AFAIK. That doesn't present a tremendous amount of challenge in terms of the environment.
BotB on PvE servers would have been more interesting as PvE, with each attending player asked questions pertaining to their class (lore, mechanics, etc.) and put through a series of individual tests versus NPCs/GMs in different zones. If this had been the approach, today there would be less need for item/spell restrictions. And there are more than a few options that could have been explored in place of PvP combat for each class to prove themselves. Which enchanter/bard survives the longest when overwhelmed by X mobs at X location; at each interval, the mob count increases by X. Which rogue obtains a spawned book of souls the fastest, without dying, with the consolation prize being a book of souls for all who managed to reach the nightstand. Which rogue performs the most solo backstabs against a variety of targets. Which monk splits out X named from X camp the fastest, with a predetermined amount of throwing weapons. IMO that would have done a better job at showcasing whether a player was technically better than others others in a PvE setting, more so than PvP.

Botb is just for winning cool titles, don't have to over think it
