Default New and could use a pointer

So i decided to come back to Everquest and try out Project 1999. Well i didn't want to replay something i'd done in the past so went with a completely new class to me. Monk. Also i never really played an iksar before so there we go.

Now the pointer i need is seeing that i don't have older characters to twink with and don't feel like leveling something else just to play this monk...i was going to venture over to the EC tunnel to look for a better weapon than the starting club and my fists. I got lucky and received some plat from a higher level player that needed something in the city. And scrounged up a little myself.

Are there any weapons i could get for around 50pp just to up my damage a little bit? I haven't played a monk before so im not really sure which ones i should look for in /ooc and /auction. The mobs around Cabilis don't seem to drop any blunt weapons.

Also is it worth going that far or should i just stick it out until a get a bit more cash?

Thank you in advance! And holy crap the loading screen music brought back so many memories! lol

Welcome along!

I think fists are good for dps at low levels til a certain point - not sure what that level is though (never monked properly).

Starting in Field of Bone doesn't make it easy to get upgrades, that's for sure. You can't leave for EC etc until level 5 these days, right guys?

Hedger i think your best bet for cheap effective weapons...
http://wiki.project1999.com/Master_Wu%27s_Trance_Stick - these are sold for around 100p each but you can likely talk them down if you mention you are new/returning.

http://wiki.project1999.com/Wu%27s_Quivering_Staff - these are about 50pp again u can talk them down i bet.

http://wiki.project1999.com/Fighting_Baton - if you are more in the 10-30pp range

http://wiki.project1999.com/Peacebringer - about 3k-4k its a nice goal to have and work towards

http://wiki.project1999.com/Jade_Mace - about 650-750pp .. good ol' trusty jade mace upgrade to your trance sticks.

http://wiki.project1999.com/Adamantite_Club - about 4kpp - very very nice offhand

Thank you very much for the suggestions! That helps narrow it down quite a bit and i appreciate the long term goals added in! Made level 7 tonight before the server decided to not let me log back in after dinner. Think i'll keep chugging along until 10 then maybe find a port over to EC and back to see if any of that happens to be for sale.

Speaking of leveling... Cabilis is basically my only option for training until FD/sneak right? Or does that not work on trainers?

2x trance sticks and a quivering staff would be a fantastic start for a brand new monk. You can easily use them till level 50.

If you have a hard time getting started, look for me in-game on Tethler or Solinius. I'll toss you a couple hundred plat. I play late night/early morning NA time though, so maybe not so easy to catch me.
