New to EQ1 - Lost in Neriak
I'm quite new to EQ1, I've come from the live servers of EQ to have a dabble in P99.
I've come as far as making a Necromancer, and logging in. Immediately I was lost with no direction. So I looked up a guide for new players and it mentioned to read the note (had to figure out how to do that on my own) and find my way to my guildmaster. This is where I have spent the past couple hours, wandering aimlessly with no maps (M button isn't bringing up maps, checked the keybind and its correct. Also downloaded more maps, still no maps. So guys I am just completely lost. overwhelmed, and a bit annoyed that I don't have any 'Find' option and no Maps. I guess that's a QOL feature that's not in this release, can anyone help me figure out a way to get my bearings?

There was no ez mode maps feature in EverQuest for many many years.
It’s easier now because accurate maps are compiled on the wiki. Type in Neriak project 1999 on google and pull up the neriak zone wiki it will have maps. Get your bearings and good luck.

There were no maps in 1999. Somehow we managed to make do. Unfortunately, people do use maps now even with p99 but I will not talk about how to employ such a disgusting practice here.

Thanks for the replies. I will just have to find my bearings. Wish me luck, Day 2.

Yea, use the Wiki maps and bind a key to /loc.
Also ask people in zone. The community is usually very helpful. Have fun in this classic Everquest world!

I met some really cool people who guided me to the Necro Guild, and then to the forest to get some EXP, and showed me where i can sell my loots. Happy days!

I used to use EqAtlas and believe a reliable mirror still exists. I had them all printed in a binder with notes. The P99 wiki has the same maps mostly I believe.

Part of the fun was drawing ur own maps in notebooks and then dreaming about living in neriak as a simple red wine importer.
