Default Filthy TLP

I’ve been enjoying Mangler quite a bit. Don’t have time to play EQ like it requires here on P99. As a long time p99’r I always scoffed at these TLPs but they’ve grown on me as I’ve started to age. Full-time student, married, three kids, full-time job. Makes p99 a tough pill to swallow.

The community here and the forums are truly what make this place. But don’t be discouraged to try these out if the time sink nature of classic EQ is tough.

I don't quite understand. Why can't you play p99 casually? Is there a law I'm not aware of that you must play the game for hours on end?

Perhaps my definition of play and casual are different from yours.

I feel pressed to sit in groups for hrs on end and not even go to the bathroom by my peers in game. There's really got to be a push for 15 minute breaks every hr by the community.

I'm a middle aged homeowner with a wife and family and all the associated time demands. At times I go weeks or months without logging in. In spite of that my main character is level 60 with all the equipment it needs to do any job I realistically want to do. It took me awhile to get there, but I got there in the end, and P99's not going anywhere. Hence I'll echo DMN's sentiment: Why can't you do that?

If the answer amounts to some variation of, "I don't want to take realtime years to progress" that's fine, just curious.

I’ve grouped with you, raided with you Danth. I know it can be done but the pace of progress wore me out. I’ll likely be back on p99 soon but the TLP Mangler with the “long” unlocks feels good.

I dunno, the last few TLPs have been pretty shitty. Agnarr and ragefire/lockjaw without a substantial death penalty saw a huge influx of people that would literally join your group, kill 2 or 3 mobs, then afk unannounced until you booted them. I remember quite a few 3 to 5 hour grinds with 4 or 5 afk leeches stacked up in our camp hours after being removed for inactivity. When i leveled my 2nd and 3rd toons their population density increased to where instead of 1 in 5 or 1 in 6 players being an afk-leveler, nearly 50% of the lfg population was looking to join n leech to max level.

In voicing this concern on the dbg forums, the community essentially argued with a pseudo-political argument that we were assholes for calling the afkers out and that we SHOULD be leveling them; harkening parallels to socialist undertones. Thats when i peaced TLP for good.

Grats on paying for whatever though.

Played on different TLPs now and I've to admit I can't remember a single afk leecher at any time ever anywhere on any day in any group any.

Have yet to see this myself, I don’t dismiss your claim but i don’t think it’s as wide spread as you claim. The quality of player on p99 is higher for sure, but that just makes it easier for competent players to rise to the top.

This is mind blowingly stupid and I have to doubt that the community en masse felt this way.
