Deepwater Harpoon

There are some issues and discrepancies with the Deepwater Harpoon quest vs how it functioned in classic era. I saw the original thread for P99 regarding this in 2010 for the trigger that fixed that her starting her escort after the bottle turn-in (vs. disappearing upon turn-in like happened previously.) I also noticed the differences in the end text after the bottle hand-in at the guard before her from historical text on these websites I mention below. But from multiple sources from 2001 going all the way up to 2014 these are some of the key differences I found with Sentry Xyrin vs. original (before Ragefire patch): 1) No turn-in was required to trigger the final escort portion. This is pretty much unanimous, and the first part of the quest could be used as a faction farming strategy. As long as her spawn is triggered in Sister Isle and the correct key words are used, she starts to run towards the Spectres immediately. 2001 Wayback Source: https://web.archive.org/web/20011217...html?quest=621 2) There are many reports of the Spectres not aggroing her and her despawning, dropping the Harpoon in the center of the Spectres (or dropping the harpoon after naturally despawning). I tried it twice, and she aggroed them instantly both times. I also waited over 2 hours and she did not despawn, only fought some aggroed gargoyles and skeletons occasionally. I tried it twice and she got aggro immediately in both instances. At the moment, this definitely can't be completed at level 1 like all of the reports and the comment threads suggested even in Classic era because of the above. You can see in the above sources they all cite this as well (not the 1 hour reported in the last thread on the subject). I've been by her side for several hours now and still no despawn either. just to reiterate, can confirm what the OP is stating. Currently does not work as it was back in the day.

Why do ppl keep wanting to take advantage of bugged quests so bad on this server, this quest was never meant for a lvl 1 to get the weapon solo The Harpoon is 18/40 +5 str/sta, a mithril 2hander is 21/40 31% haste (BiS for knights til planes), you shouldnt be getting a weapon at lvl 1 that will take you all the way to BiS 2hander for knights til raid planes are opened up, yes the mithril (gotta kill lvl 47 king in lower guk) blows it out of the water but 18/40 at lvl 1 come on now, you should atleast require a high lvl friends help to get it, not just make a rogue, talk to her, then stealth and wait for her to drop it.
Yes classic is what they are aiming for, but not everything is going to be exactly like it was, unless they are letting ppl kill raid bosses with the hoops and tumpy tonics giving massive exp they already changed things from classic before green even starts, last i checked there wasnt a list either, enjoy the server and quests without having to rely on exploiting a clearly bugged quest that the DEVs have fixed the way it was suppose to be. | ||
