Default Level 12 Enchanter - where to charm solo?

Going to hit level 12 soon and really looking forward to charm soloing. Any suggestions on where a possibly tactics? I read that reverse charm soloing may be better due to pet's taking xp since patch.

Great server btw, tons of fun.

Thanks,

Isic

if you don't understand what you're doing, charming will take exp just like normal pets. your best bet at this time is to group with someone to negate the exp penalty.

Anywhere outside where you can run away if it you get in trouble [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Seriously charm soloing is not braindead XP the way it used to be last spring. Charm breaks a LOT. I probably get a bit less than 1 charm break per fight. Eventually you just get so good at recharming that it doesn't matter.

At 12 you are also missing a few of the key tools (rune/berserker to keep your HP up, tash that doesn't suck, and 6 second stun to buy time).

That said I putzed around with an enchanter once and at 14 or so its really fun to charm the Rogue dervishes in WC in a group. They backstab for 60 or so, which is like 20% of a mob's HP at that level . . . .

I'd start in WC, theres a lot of wandering blues at lvl 12+. This will at least allow you to practice your charm soloing somewhat safely. Get a SoW if you can, will make it much easier on you too.

Good Luck!

Sirban, that would have been correct last spring. I remember trying charm at L12 in February and it never lasted more than 2 ticks tops. Most were instant breaks. So while the charm code hurt high level charm durations it really increased low level ones. Overall I think the new code is more balanced, although my guess is it's still worse than live based on what I read. Anyway I don't want to reopen the old can of worms here.

Don't know about 12 exactly but at 14 I would say try the bandit camps in East Karana. Can be tricky, but collecting the sashes is a good quest.

When I was 16 or so I tried the entrance areas of Permafrost and Runnyeye. Nice XP per mob, and a zone at your back for when it goes wrong, as long as you don't try going too deep in. Permafrost has a longish respawn time, which may or may not be a downside.
