Error Code SP-1

Attempting to log in today, I get as far as the Character screen. None of my characters are there. Instead I am told my spell files are out of date and that I need to go to Project 1999 getting started page for file updates. All I see are two posts about starting with a fresh load. Is this temporary or is there really something wrong? If there is a something wrong, can someone point me to the file I need to download or up date. I saw this once before, and it just went away after an hour or so. But this has been going on for almost six hours now. I played yesterday with no problems.
