Default What's so good about CoS for Necros?

I've been seeing pre-nerf CoS shoot up in price and I've been asking myself, why the high demand?

People use it in combination with FD? I thought losing aggro that way was also nerfed?

I don't get it. What makes them worth 25k+?

Gazugi ring functionality from inventory - instantly worth 7k just for this
Instant cast unlimited invis - extremely convenient for mobility
Yes, helps somewhat with invising after fd
No longer able to get one without paying for it - a big reason it increased.

These things were a solid 2k item before the nerf so obviously when they suddenly become unobtainable through normal means (ie camping it) the prices rises.

I dont think it's worth 25k+
But I'd happily pay 10k for this item if I didn't already have one

I think the real question is why do elder beads cost more than 30k

Pretty sure they were going for 10k even when they still dropped. Of course, people knew they'd go away someday, so speculation was probably a factor even back then, but we had years of them dropping so it couldn't have been that much of a factor.

I think 4k was the most expensive one I ever saw before nerf and I didn't pay that for mine and I even made my necro with intentions to farm them to sell !

Mobility + easy charm breaks. On live though I got really good at timing the nerfed one.

A couple of EC flippers bought plenty of them and then doubled the price which in turn made others rush out to try and join on. Can get kinda funny though, to see 4-6 of them being auctioned at the same time and then gradually lower in price to like 13-14k.

Nah. They were always 2kish while they dropped. Even after they stopped dropping it took a few months for them to stay at 10k, people would sell them for 6-7k often at least a few months after the nerf.

Only takes a few persistent people to skyrocket the price of an item though.

Yeah, my mistake. I thought it was selling for that much when I looted mine (although I didn't sell it, I just checked the price), but I'm probably mis-remembering because if it had actually been 10k I would have been way more excited about it than the (3k) Idol of the Thorned from the same camp.

The most I would pay for a CoS would be 7-10K. Anything over 10K and it's not worth it, IMO.

Hell, I have a 54 Necro that doesn't have a CoS and have used FD hundreds of times and never had any problems. Sure, it's helpful in those situations with KOS wandering Mobs but I'm willing to bet that most of them see through invis and hide.

7K was the going price around this time last year. Now they are 12-14K, which is also fine. Great item, but let's not forget there are a few thousand in circulation, likely.

From what I remember on live as a SK it was certainly cool to have. Especially back when monk/SK mob splitting was more of a thing.

Tbh there are two things to question. One is the price development which I won’t comment on. The second is objective value. On this second point a thought experiment: If this item had always only dropped off a contested raid mob, say, King Tormax or some Ntov dragon I would imagine it would sell for 100k+

As a necro (sk too id imagine but sticking with necro as that’s what I play) it is an absolutely incredible item. Even without taking charm breaking into account just being able to instant invis from inventory is flat out amazing for your QoL in Norrath
