Just look at criticism of people that do get a bit of power who come from poor backgrounds. Just an FYI, raising the minimum wage too much just leads to everything costing more.

Or do you not think the companies will pass that extra expense on to the consumers?

Universal healthcare in theory sounds great but if everyone isn't paying into the system (we have way too many able-bodied in this country that leech off the government) and they don't reimburse the practicioners enough it will lead to disaster. A lot of practicioners already don't want to accept Medicare and Medicaid because they don't reimburse enough. Make either of them universal and guess what?
