Single Pulling Spore King

So how is it done exactly? Talking green here so no Bio Orb. I've seen videos where sometimes the king runs directly at the monk floating over the water, while the rest of the mobs run the long way around. Then there are times when the king runs with all the other mobs. Is there a technique for making sure the king runs directly at you over the water and not around?

Gotta be to the left kinda floating over the water, kinda close. If he gets glitched in the water, sit down by the door.

Honestly, just mess with it, you'll get it eventually.
