Swish, when you are right, you are right, sir.

As I said, if everything went perfect, if it was marketed perfectly, I think you could get 3-4 stable long term servers.

The premise of eq requires at least a year+ of commitment to a gameworld, and not a gameworld designed in 40 minute chunks, or instanced or buyable for your coinvenience: it has to be a competitive world, too.

This is the flip side of the coolness of a truly persistent, shared online world. It requires people to inhabit it. And there are not enough of us freaks.

edit: this might be one of the geniuses of eve online: it is only one server, ie, one persistent world. As p99 proves, you can always fill one "instance" of an online world. But how to make that work as a game, and a business, is a big challenge.

Pantheon

These are the last hopes for us old time mmo lovers, thats as close as it will ever get.
The beautiful thing about these two games is that they aren't trying to be all things to all people. Both are old school leaning, but Pantheon is almost 100% PVE focused, while Camelot is almost 100% PVP focused. No nerfing and balancing measures based on one style of play deeply fucking with the other. The games can coexist simultaneously, almost complementing each other rather than really competing with one another.
