That is an interesting thought. I guess it would depend upon why the movie chose to change the quote to " You shall not pass". Perhaps this was some meme or misquote that existed before the movies were made?

From some cursory googling https://www.cbr.com/lord-rings-ian-m...quote-mistake/ seems to indicate that Ian McKellen screwed up the line but they liked the take so much that they just said its fine and went with it. And then it became iconic.
