What happens if the mob has ten hp and the pet does seven and I do three?

Or what if the pet does ALL the damage?

The mob has 10 hp, your pet hits it for 9 damage and you dismiss the pet.
You do the last 1 point of damage. you get full exp

or another example with no dismiss

the mob has 10 hp your pet does 4 damage and you do 6 damage
you get full exp

or a third example

Group up with another mage and sit back and relax.

Then your pet eats 50% of your XP. Grouping completely dismisses pet xp penalties and pet can do 100% damage and leeches 0 xp

And for completion's sake:

Mob had 10hp,
Hits the pet and takes 5 DS damage,
Pet hits for 2 dmg,
You do 3 dmg.

You get full xp.
Aka you need to do 50%+1 of the non-neutral damage done,
Not 50%+1 of the mob's total HP.

Yep, and I'd also like to add that even at 50% xp, your solo kill speed is at least 2x any other class out of the gate (it slows down later though), so you won't really care about any lost xp. You get to sit and med while fluffy cleans house and you get free xp for medding.

But as others have mentioned, grouping eliminates this penalty so it's a non-issue for the most part.

This is correct for Blue, but i'm unsure if Green will be the same at launch. As others mentioned, I think at some point after launch this was changed to the above logic.

I like the current live system - if you do any damage at all you get all the exp.
