Event Registration
Brave souls who wish to participate in this event may sign up by sending a private message to me through the forums. Your registration must be sent by Thursday, December 20th, at 11:59pm eastern in order to be confirmed entry. Late submissions will not be allowed. You must be at least level 54 by the time you register.

Your message should look like the following:

I will reply with a confirmation of your entry in the event.

Rewards
The rewards for these events will be titles given to the top 3 contestants. Titles will be assigned as follows:
First Place: the Grave Lord
Second Place: the Revenant
Third Place: the Reaver

Participant Rules
  1. 24 hours prior to the event, a randomly generated bracket will be created and posted in this thread
  2. The event will be started with several rounds of single elimination battles, until 2 people are left
  3. Once 2 people are left, they will compete in a best 2 of 3 event
  4. If necessary, the runners up will compete in a single elimination battle for the third place title
  5. If anyone is not present for the start of the event, they will be automatically disqualified
  6. If anyone is not present or AFK when their name is called to fight, they will be automatically disqualified and their opponent advanced to the next round

I. General Combatant Rules
  • The top of the throne, in the throne, or behind the throne is off limits to the combatants during the matches. The four firepots are also off limits to the combatants. Use of these areas in match combat will lead to contestants being disqualified.
  • Starting positions are allowed anywhere that is legal (meaning not on the throne or in firepots) that is on your half of the tiles. All participants will be debuffed before the match.
  • Weapons with the following spell effects attached to them will not be allowed in Best of the Best Series; Knockback, Fear, Invisibility, and shrink.
  • The use of "Right Click" items is not permitted unless specifically stated otherwise in the Class Specific Rules.

The following spell types may not be used in any of the Best of the Best Series:
  • Any form of Fear or Charm unless directed at a pet.
  • Gravity Flux or Invert Gravity
  • Any type of gate or translocation spell (Example shadow step)
The following item types will not be allowed in the Best of the Best Series:
  • Any type of Artifact items. (Example Butcher Block Hammer.)
  • Any type of Hit Point regeneration effect items. (Example Fungi Tunic)

The event staff, due to the amount of contestants, may decide to split the combat area in half. The arena in this case will be divided making two battle areas for 2 matches to be performed at one time.

II. Class Specific Rules
These rules follow the BotB rules from live. (source: http://web.archive.org/web/200304061...1_shd_rule.jsp)
  • A 30-second buffing period will be given before direct combat in the match.
  • All Armors and Weapons available to the contestant's class will be allowed unless it has an effect stated in General Combat rules as unusable.
  • All spells are allowed during this event unless stated to be disallowed in General Combat rules.
  • The Shadow Knights Epic weapon (Innoruuk's Curse) is allowed in this event.
  • Pet weapons will not be allowed.
  • Pet buffs, outside those that the Shadow Knight can provide him/herself, will not be allowed. This includes muzzle.
  • Harmtouch will be reset upon request.

Spectator Rules
By entering the Arena, spectators agree to abide by the following rules:
  1. Anyone found attacking a GM or Guide may be banished from the Arena or death touched without warning.
  2. The Arena is off limits to unauthorized PvP 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after the event. This is to ensure that the contestants and spectators are safe.
  3. Spectators shall remain seated and not casting during the match. Any spell casting shall be considered aimed at a participant, and either harmful or helpful to someone in the match.
  4. Anyone who casts any spells (including Bard songs) during a match can be death touched and removed from the Arena.
  5. Spectators shall not use /shout for any reason, but use /ooc instead. This is so that those involved in the match can use /shout, and the /ooc channel can be turned off to reduce distraction to the contestants involved. Use of /shout at anytime can result in a silence command being issued, rendering the player unable to use any form of communication, or banishment from the Arena.
  6. Spectators shall not interfere with this event. Severe penalties are used only when directly attacking a player involved in the match, attacking a judge during the match, or healing a player involved in a match.
  7. The P99 staff may limit the amount of people in the zone to control conditions of lag or frame rate for the participants. The event shall start open seating, but may close off at any time. The Event Staff may use any sort of decision on who stays and who leaves to ensure the event is a success. This should not be implemented until a minimum of 150 players in the zone has been reached.
  8. AoE Spells ARE allowed in game. This has the potential of killing off some of the younger spectators. If you are killed by one of these spells, please wait for a GM or Guide to give you a summons into the Arena.

An announcement for summons will be made prior to the event beginning.

Good luck to our contestants! We'll see you on the 22nd!
