Default John Smedley steps down as CEO from DBG

In an unexpected move, VentureBeat.com is reporting that John Smedley has resigned as the CEO and president of Daybreak Game Company, formerly Sony Online Entertainment. Current COO Russell Shanks will temporarily step into Smedley's place until a replacement is found.

Quote:
“I can confirm that John Smedley will be taking some time off from the company for the near-term and transitioning to a different role to be determined,” a spokesperson for Daybreak told GamesBeat. “Upon finalization of his plans, further communication will be provided.”
Found this piece over at mmorpg.com, figured some would like to read. Source Source #2

"Unexpected"

This is how takeovers work, you fire upper management and hire more peons to run the goy milking machine.

I'm sure the new CEO isn't on the same paycheck deal.

Little bit of a difference in stepping down and being fired. He will still be part of DBG, just no longer the CEO & President. What he will be doing is unknown as of now.
Quote:
The CEO’s departure comes in the wake of a cyberattack that took many of his company’s game servers offline. But Smedley, who helped pioneer the massively multiplayer online model and free-to-play strategy on home gaming consoles, also isn’t gone for good; he is planning to take on a different role at the publisher in the future.

"Still part of DB" as in still ties his name to company for whatever awful brand recognition that is worth. "Stepping down" as in has no choice. Not that I get why yall give a fuck about this shit publisher

If that is their strategy to get rid of Lizard agro, I am pretty sure they're not dumb enough to fall for this. Id DDOS them even more for trying to trick me if I were them

That's for sure, this isn't the first time the Liz has targeted DBG/SoE. I doubt it will be the last.

The poppies were able to sneak in Daybreak and capture this photo of him in his new role.
