Never go for strength as a caster. Your basic stats are INT and STA. Since there is an INT cap that you will eventually reach with items anyways, you may think about boosting STA.

I have settled down now nicely in a Necromancer.

+25 INT +5 STAM

People! WTF!

Five caster stamina gives you TEN HIT POINTS at level 60!

That is literally worthless. Has zero practical application. That five extra STR is going to let you carry an extra weight reducing bag, giving you even more item space.

For real. That said, for a necromancer, I'd think about sta, depending on race.

But going with BlackBellamy's point, if you think about the value you get from 10 hit points at level 60 (not much) compared to the value of 5 additional points of carrying capacity starting from level 1, I think it's clear the strength provides greater value...

I went int/str split on my wiz and am happy as can be. Enough capacity with just medicine bags to pack around a lot of rusties early on, and later belts from orcs or elves out in OOT.

The extra 5 points are almost literally irrelevant. The extra stamina MIGHT save you but the situation where you'll live with 10 or less hp's is unbelievably rare.

Also, I'm pretty sure the "min max" is to go 25 stam and rest agil as you will eventually be able to hit max int pretty easily but stam/agil will be nearly impossible.

This is the correct answer. The extra points go to strength.

This is not good advice.

You should definitely go with some strength, especially if you start a weak caster like a Gnome or High Elf.

Never put points in sta, they would be completely wasted.

This is experience speaking.

5 Stamina is 10 Hit points at level 60, and less hit points at every level before it.

5 strength lets you carry 5 more weight always.
