We can agree that the mainstream being wrong does not make the alternative right (heh) especially since there are many different, incompatible alternative views. The first step to a theoretically sound view of politics is the complete realization of the asymmetry between the special interest group and the tax payer.

i dont blame you for retreating back into the motte here, but can we take a moment to examine the whole "donald trump is a crusader against a cabal of literal satanic elites" thing? do you think this view is actually supported by evidence?

thinking about who benefits from a narrative is important, and that applies both to mainstream and non mainstream information sources. evidence aside, i think its pretty clear who benefits from making facebook grandmas and other useful idiots think that their vote between two parties that dont care about them is a vote between lawful good and cartoonish evil.

So, let's start with a simpler question and see where this line of thought takes us: Given the asymmetry between the taxpayer and the special interest group, do you believe that a large, inveterate, democratic government will ever serve the interest of its citizens? If the citizens are losing, who is winning?
