Default What's up with Moe's Taverne

EQEmu launcher won't load a server list, it just times out. The ad on the top says "This program cannot display this webpage." and I get the message "Could not reach EQEmulator.com. Trying again in 30 seconds..."

I know the launcher has something to do with www.moestaverne.com and even the website doesn't load.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about why so many people are having problems with this.

Thanks [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

has happened to me randomly a couple times. dont really know why... right click one of the open boxes (the one that usually has the server list i think) and click "just start/load everquest"

wording might be a little bit off, but its similar to right click, "run as administrator" but directly through the portal once you already have it open (not right clicking the icon on ur desktop)

I re-installed everything thinking it would fix it, so when I logged in by right clicking and selecting "Run as Everquest", my character select screen said something about how my files are outdated and I needed to visit the getting started page.

The page only says this:
Step 3 - EQEmu Launcher
We have simplified our patching process to utilize a global launchpad for all EQEmulator servers. Please download the EQEmu Launcher.
Install this launcher to handle the EQHost Configuration and Installation of required play files for Project 1999.

So now I just need to re-patch... I think.

I'm hoping the launcher will be working again and the website will be back up soon.

Can't say this is the issue currently, but in the past Moe's Tarverne has been hit with DDoS attacks. It takes the website down, and since the launcher connects to the website for a server list, it also disables that.

If the launcher won't load a server list, the easiest workaround (besides maybe making a shortcut to your executable), as you noted, is to just right-click on the launcher's background and select the one along the lines of "Launch EQ only". I'm at work, so can't verify that's the actuall text for the selection. There was a patch recently, and since the launcher isn't working, you'd have to manually update it. There should be a link in the patch notes with the files.

If anyone needs the launcher itself, I've uploaded the ZIP file to a torrent site (If Moe objects I'll take it straight down again, but its designed to be an unofficial mirror).

Link to torrent here!
