Hello
Hello friends,
I'm completely new to EQ but have always wanted to experience the classic game as I've heard lots about it over the years. I'm mostly a WoW Classic player (forgive me) but I plan to slowly level a character on green when I'm not playing Classic. Not even sure what I'll play yet, but my first character will be named Loxxic so, hope to see you around! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Welcome, and as a first-time player be sure to check out http://wiki.project1999.com/Newbie_Guide (and really the entire wiki; it's chock full of info about this crazy old game).

Think of the graphics as MineQuest, helps ease the transition.

EQ graphics obviously fully immersive like all early 3d graphics with minimal textures.
The UI is the hard part. Look into "viewport" on the forum you want to set a 4:3 viewport that will allow you to see more in the game (for wonky reasons) and then you can put your UI elements in the black spaces around the viewport. Good luck. When you die you have to go back to your corpse to get your items, and you need to have the spell yourself or have a person with the spell cast "bind affinity" on you to change your bind point. Stuff in bank stays there even when you die. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I checked out the wiki and watched some videos, ended up rolling a Dwarf Cleric.

Good luck. Be quick to find a bag merchant. Get large bags. Just small advice for inventory space.

As a young Dwarven Cleric, you might want to look into this quest: https://wiki.project1999.com/Bone_Chips_Kaladim It's a very easy quest you can do from level 1 in Kaladim for extra XP, cash and Leather Armor. Enjoy the journey!

Just stay in beginner area in front of Kaladim and farm bone chips. That bone chip quest can take you to levels 6-7 per memory. And some players needs them so you can sell them as well for good starting platina. If skeleton carry 'Cracked Staff' it sells for over 1 platina.
Once you are somewhere around level 6-7, move to nearby Greater Faydark, see the map, toward the top, where is marked on map #1, there are Orcs, that drop belts that you can again level up off them or sell the to other players. Once they are green to you (/con EVERY npc you plan to attack) move inside the Crushbone. https://wiki.project1999.com/Greater_Faydark Then once they are green let us know for more ideas, where to go [You must be logged in to view images.
