This is why I advance capitalism. If you feel that someone like me can’t make enough to pass it on, you’ve lost the plot. I’ve only ever saved so that my children and grandchildren wouldn’t have to know the misery I’ve known. Being a refugee and coming to Texas as a Muslim foreigner was not easy, let me tell you
lovely story and congrats and stuff, but let's talk about how the misery you escaped from wherever you came from became miserable in the first place

still wanna know if a person in your position supports a universal healthcare system in america. i wasn't kidding when i said i expect to declare bankruptcy over these hospital bills for something that would be nearly free in a few dozen other so-called "developed" countries

Yes I support universal healthcare bud, but I would also make penalties for bad lifestyle choices. Or at the very least address their causes, like food deserts

I spent a quarter million on my brother in law’s rehab. I am aware of our system. And he only got on pills because he got into a car accident that wasn’t his fault and they gave them to him since nothing was working for his back pain. I will remember the pain management doctor here in Houston til the day I die

Luckily, my brother in law moved back to Kentucky and recently relocated to Lexington and loves it. He lives for college sports which is a much better addiction

And the court basically eliminated Miranda rights. We are definitely moving in the wrong direction on citizen’s rights vs state power

well what i was getting at is that when you agree to address causes, there comes a point eventually when virtually everything can be traced back to the capitalism you yourself said you advance. which is why i asked about how the misery you escaped became miserable.

not to say people don't make bad choices sometimes, obviously they do. even in my magical utopian anarcho-communism people will make bad choices.

Capitalism just means having free markets and private property. It doesn’t mean you tax the middle class more than the wealthy or let Southwest Airlines stop high speed rail in Texas. That’s corruption and lobbying. It isn’t an inevitable part of a capitalist system

Singapore leads us in ease of doing business and property ownership. If you try to bribe their government they deep fry you in Szechuan sauce and then beat you to death with chop sticks. We have ignored the rot in our system for a very, very long time

^ gets it.

Cronyism is the rot; free markets are not.

Why do you guys always fight about what capitalism is when America doesn't even use that system?

The U.S. has a mixed economy, exhibiting characteristics of both capitalism and socialism.
