If I could change how conflicts played out, I’d be in Iran bringing about a peaceable transition to the parliamentary democracy we had in 1951.

As for Putin, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Moldova, chechnya, georgia, crimea, donbas, Ukraine

Throw in finlandization and Austria for good measure. This is what they do man, it’s their culture. It will take the Russian people realizing this is stupid for it to change. NATO is the ONLY deterrent keeping them out of the countries I didn’t list (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania would absolutely be conquered because they couldn’t resist nearly as effectively as Ukraine)

I believe in NATO and believe this invasion shows us why it exists. The USSR sucks and Russia still sucks. NATO needs to be rewritten thoufh. If we have to help in the Atlantic and Europe, the other states should have to help us in the pacific, which is currently not mentioned in Article 5

None of which is to say NATO has made no mistakes. I’ve said this ad nauseam, I voted for Kerry in 2004 before it’s was a transparently obvious one goal that caused massive death and upheaval that still reverberates to this day (Iraq is headed towards civil war as we speak)
