I’m reading a book about Ukraine. Apparently the Cossacks were peasants leaving serfdom who “re-captured” the evacuated steppe land (donbas and Kherson) from the tatars

Really interesting stuff, it’s amazing how much geography forces us to repeat history as a species

Yeah like that’s why I kept saying unless you cut off the head of the snake the snake is going to come back and eat Ukraine.. like you don’t win this war unless you completely destroy Russia. Like completely change their culture to be like the way the Japanese are totally anti war making Godzilla movies because they’re so traumatized.

If there’s a patriotic bone in its body it’s going to go back and try to take Ukraine again eventually.
