why does it change 'me' to 'i'

in chat sometimes some ones text will say 'me' in replacement for 'i' but it doesnt show it for everyone

Example
actual chat: i like everquest
what someone might see: me like everquest


me and my pals will be reading chat and it had happened on more than one occasion that someone will see the 'i' replaced with 'me'
