Question with Qeynos Badge Quest

I already messed this portion up once so want to make sure I understand this completely. I think I may have given an enchanted rat to a healthy rat and that cause the fail, but this I do not understand which is the Research Briefing given to study:

1. (First Photo) In the research book, why does the 0 turn to an x on the next page? I would think it would remain being a healthy rat, no? Screenshot below:

Yeah that took me a few tries before I understood how it worked. I just treated it like the old "lights out" game https://www.neok12.com/games/lights-out/lights-out.htm and completed it on the 3rd attempt. I don't recall diagonals changing, so it may be an error in the instructions, or I was just lucky on my 3rd attempt and had an easier spawn (it was different each time I tried).

Thanks! I did get it on the 2nd go around. Now up to the 4th badge, but now completed this part. I wasn't sure if I was missing something or not. But I did it again based on what I figured it was like, reminds me a lot of the game Othello, except like you said, not diagonal. (I will have to check out your link).

I still however do not understand why that O turned to an X in the book, unless like you said, it was an error. But it did throw me off in that perhaps I was doing something wrong. Shoutout to Fedelma who kept me company while completing this the 2nd try around- I really did not want to have to go through this again (let's hope 4th badge is successful with no hiccups)!

PS, think I can solo the 4th badge on a 56 cleric? Kind of hesitant. Maybe I will play it safe and look for someone to help me.

Ah, if it isn't the best quest in the game.

Yes, that's most likely a printing error. It is like Othello, not Lights Out. The "aura" spreads across a line and can cure multiple rats at once. The bottom left rat is supposed to be diseased in the first diagram, as far as I can tell.

Oh, right - lights out doesn't complete the line - it's just the adjacent ones. It's definitely Othello as Sadiki pointed out.

I didn't even attempt soloing the last mob with a 60 cleric. I believe it was Nybras who was kind enough to kill it for me.

Thanks! I am really enjoying it a lot! I am now on the 4th badge and it looks a little intimidating~ As for the book, I thought perhaps a typo or misprint may be the case, but at first i wasn't sure seeing how I botched that first time up.

Oh wow, good to know. I will have to get help then since I am only 56 and seeing how this aqueduct map is making my head tilt sideways.. Were you able to kill the corrupt guard before the final boss mob? Maybe I will just try that.... if I can figure out the way.

I remembered correctly - it was Nybras. He petted random stuff and cleared the catacombs out and then used a Spectre to kill the last mob:

So, I had this great idea (or so I thought), of spawning the mobs and logging in my druid to kill (since the charming a spectre seemed like a great idea from above and just have my druid kill) as my 56 cleric would not be able to solo anyway. But when I logged to druid, mobs despawned. So consequently, I need to stay on my cleric.

However, I had this other idea.. but my question is this. Does anyone know once you hand in the ring/seal to Guard Helminth to spawn Corrupt Helminth Do you get this seal back? I would assume yes since I believe it is used for the final turn in for the 4th badge- so nevermind on this... thinking out loud. So since you do get it back.... My idea is this. To do the quest on my druid, and thus I will be able to spawn Corrupt Helminth (because my druid would have the seal), who then spawns Azibelle Spavin, the boss mob (who I should be able to kill with druid charm). And for her, I just need her head, and the previous seal to hand in. And since my druid would not turn in the seal (as she would not have the head and does not need the item anyway), I can perpetually respawn these mobs with the seal - so my cleric could loot the head (that druid killed) with the seal in her inventory from the quest (that she herself did), and druid would still have seal to help someone else or another char for this piece.

Hopefully that made sense. Sometimes my brain is a bit convoluted... especially after it starts sparking with ideas (some much better, and others, much more worse, lol).

Suffice to say, the sparking ideas, this one turned out to be the latter. (sometimes I wonder about these grand ideas of mine) hehe.

Needless to say, I will need to find someone else for help. Boss mob means business!
