Trying to fix crashing with EQ Window

Hi all,

First I will start off I am not computer savvy at all and I am sure my issue is all user error. I tried doing a search but could not find the same issues.

I have tons of problems logging into the servers. I have timeout errors, the server list does not populate or the program just closes when I select a server or try to log my character into the game. EQ also freezes up about 30% of the time I zone.

I was told a potential fix to this would be using WinEQ. I have downloaded the program and am going through the install instructions. Before I can open the program I get a message DirectX needs to be updated. I have done this around 10 times and have deleted and reinstalled WinEQ twice. What would be causing this issue and how can I fix it?

If anyone has any ideas for any of the problems that would be great.
