The Velium Focus - quest script details

I'm digging into some ClassicQuest here and I've never done the Velium Focus quest, but judging by the lack of mention on the boards here it seems like a cool part of the end of the script is missing, just want to verify before posting the bug report.

After you hand in the final items, Phenocryst along with a bunch of other geonids run out of the cave and gather in a circle. It sounds like reading on P99 that they just depop? Didn't feel like doing entire quest to find out.

On live it seems like they depop and spawn a HUGE geonid which is named 'The Menhir'. It sticks around for a minute or 2 and then there is some script about it being unstable, and it actually releases the spell 'Supernova' which can damage PCs.

Should be a geonid the size of a frost giant... pretty cool screenshot bait. I only saw from searches that Erati remembers this event from live, didn't see other mention around here.

I got a bunch of details for the Menhir and the scripts they would need to implement, just would like confirmation from someone who did the quest that the above does or does not happen on P99. Thank you.

Fun fact: someone mentioned a Geonid Shaman would run out to the site of the explosion after, and hailing him would get a response of something like 'I require the focus to communicate'. Others have said nothing happens after. I smell some potential custom content, nilbog...

I did this and think I remember all the geo's running together but don't remember what happened after?!

I did it and watched them all run out, waste an afk cleric near the entrance, spawn the mehnir, emote, and despawn. It's in my logs somewhere. I'll find it tomorrow. No supernova aoe went off.

I've never done this myself but I've seen it done twice on P99. They all gather in the cave, 30 of them or whatever there are, then they march out in a line to the front of the cave, they loiter around for a second, then they all turn into the Melnir. He is a lot bigger than a regular geo, but not the size of a frost giant. I'm not sure if he explodes into "Supernova", I was KOS to geo's both times I saw it so I stood back a ways.

I shouted a bunch of warnings for a an hour or two before handing in, and made sure no players were exping in the path of the geonid train at the time of turn in, but poor little Hilenaa had been taking hours long afk breaks in that spot for several days...

At this point the geonids are now all outside the western cave

Holding the Beryl, Stibnite, and Iron Crystals, the Phenocryst joins the other geonids as they form one huge structure. Immediately an intense buzz pierces the air, threatening to deafen you!

Emote spam from every geonid. I removed the instances of the shamans casting and the buff text. A few had their spells interrupted by the despawn.

No reply to hails. I made sure I was inside its model, right between its legs, when hailing.

It cast a spell just before despawning but it wasn't Supernova and it didn't damage me. I don't remember what the particles looked like. I think it was just standard self buffing from a caster mob that just spawned.


I was going to edit all this into the wiki at the time, then a powerful feeling of no one cares overcame me.

edit: After finding this screenshot, it looks like it did cast some kind of pbaoe fire spell. It must be very short range, because I wasn't hit where I was standing. As you can see, Menhir is not frost giant sized. Barely bigger than a standard geonid, if not the same size.
