Default Have to do 1 pt of damage for pet to not steal all the exp?

I already knew about the needing to do more than 50% of mob's health to avoid the pet taking 50% exp

However, I was under the impression you could still get some exp even if the pet did 100% of the damage

Is this true? Because it seemed like I was not getting ANY exp until I started using a level 1 spell to deal at least 1 point of damage. Is this all in my head or do you need to do at least 1 point of damage to avoid the pet taking 100% exp?

That sounds wrong, unless there's something special going on for low level characters. From personal experience I can report that I've gotten XP while never dealing even a single (direct) point of damage to a mob. From the wiki's pet guide:

Quote:
In order to receive full experience for a kill solo, you need to do more than 50% of the damage to the mob. If your pet out-damages you, it will take 50% of the experience away from the kill. This is a major change from the previous system, in which you only needed to do a single point of damage to the mob in order to get full experience. If you are grouped, you and your group will get full experience from the kill, regardless of how much damage the pet does. (Implemented: Oct 23 2011 Patch)

I was playing a new mage this morning, just dinged lvl 4. Pretty sure I was getting xp for pet doing full damage. But I did log off shortly after, would need to check again.

Through more extensive testing I have confirmed I still get exp (although only 50%) with pet doing 100% of damage

They way I know? I eventually dinged lol

I always thought you had to at least do 51% of the damage to the mob to get the full exp, and doing less than that meant the pet to eat a percentage of it.
