spell effects will not show

yes i have tried, /showspelleffects on but still nothing. I had to reinstall my eq after the patch and i have it up and running, but i can't see any spells. any help guys? i saw a post about merging certain files but i couldnt get it to work still. if anyone has some advice please help. thank you

Download that, extract to your eq directory and overwrite files, make sure you merge spell effects folder.

Double check the modified date on the spellsnew files if you want to make sure you have sufficient permission to overwrite.
