Cops themselves feel they are called to deal with situations that they are not the correct person for the job. They are our only public safety officers and mostly are trained to stay personally alive.

Different people for different calls makes much sense.

if you think the people going out to calls wont be just like the police then I hate to break it to you the police took that job because they had the best intentions too.

Having actual doctors on the calls will only increase the rate of medication prescribed during arrests, which in the long run will be far worse than a few lunatics dying in the police's hands IMO

Id rather be able to chose myself when to calm down than to have a LEO chose when they think I am not calm and they are going to medicate me to clam me down.

Yeah brandishing a weapon in public is never a good idea. Castle Doctrine doesn't cover your front porch or lawn.

In a civilian setting, Never, EVER, EVER show your weapon until you are damn ready to fire it, wait for them to come into your home, then righteously unload.

Depends where you live. In Texas you can open fire during the nighttime, if you think the guy is going to steal from you...or like if you think he has already stolen something, you can chase him down, even off your property, as long as it takes to put one through his lungs. You don't need to be in fear of your life, it just needs to be night.
