Smithing skill increases so infrequently
What am I doing wrong? This is really typical, I am working on smithing and the skill increases only once per 10 attempts.
I've run through about 250 leather paddings so far. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

RNG can be a mean mofo.
Try to buff your int/wis/str as much as you can, before your tradeskill attempts.

Lol wait til your 200+ and you have a run of 100 combines without a skillup. But as stated for smithing get your wis/int or str as high as you can and it will help.

My worst run was 150+ combines before a skill up (smithing on live, way back when). That almost broke me.

Anyone confirm any stat actually increasing the chances? Truly confirm, not just firmly believe. I wish I could remember where I read it but I did read that stats won't effect skill increases, that it was always a myth.
Just because I read it on the internet don't make it true though :P

There is some evidence on Live circa 2004 that stats did directly effect skill up chances. According to this post on EQ Traders Corner, there are two checks to see if you get a skill up, and one of them includes your stat score. If you read the whole first post, he goes on to show examples of how different stat scores give different chances of a skill up.
No one was able to confirm this for p1999 when it was asked before, so I can't tell you if it holds up exactly the same here. I would imagine they at least modeled the one here on something similar.
