New Monk on Green ; gear and making money questions

I've got Split Paw Hide Gloves now that are magical though a little heavier. Pretty happy with my set up for now; will work for Jewelry and better armor as I level and make money.

When I got my monk to 15 sat in Kithcor, and did Recfek Shralok for packs sells for 60 to 100pp each geared him up after a few days camping bags. He's camped alot but worth it and ph is spider so can work tailor skills on silks.

Pretty much this. Netted/woven/mesh gloves are easy to get so your fists are magical. Cured silk is cheap. If you find yourself rolling in some plat you can buy an enameled black mace for lower levels, but your fists are better than it starting in the mid 30s.

In case anybody hasn't said, I'd get +2 STR rings or Derv Rings as your "newbie" rings. Str rings will help deal damage and derv rings each have 1ac to help tank.

Yes you just play game and equip gear as you get it, before kunark comes out EQ is a legit game with lovely progression. +2 strength + 1 ac junk is excellent gear and gets the job done. Nothing holding you back from being a story of magical rags to riches success on a fresh server like this.

Get you a greater light stone, 4 heady kiola ( player crafted ), silk swatch ( player crafted ), a vial of viscous mana from an enchanter, and a tailor to craft some Wu's fighting gauntlets for you. It's a good light source and frees up an inventory slot so you don't have to carry a firebeetle eye or the lightstone.

There's a lot of cheap gear like necklaces and masks for a few + stats and the quest sashes / headbands. You'll loot some stuff once you get into some dungeons to upgrade your stuff.
