Default Retro Console Gaming

I figure since we all love retro pc games like EQ, that maybe we've got some retro console gamers amongst us as well!?
If so, which console(s) do you collect for and what are some must own games for the console that you'd suggest others pick up?
I've only been doing retro collecting for a few years as it originally started with me collecting Nintendo Switch games with my kids,
and then running out of games we were interested in once we hit the 60+ marker.

So I snagged a Gamecube and an HDMI upscale convertor for it and went to collecting...
but holy shit gamecube games we're insane in price! i couldn't believe it!
of course I needed to get few essential titles like some zelda games, mario titles, mario sports titles, but then I decided to look into PS retro collecting...

SHABAM! got myself a backwards compatible ps3 off ebay like it was 2007 and started down the collecting rabbit hole! games are much cheaper for old PS games vs Gamecube for some reason. So I quickly grabbed a bunch of rockstar and bethesda titles + the Skate games (bc there hasnt been a good skateboarding game in 10+ years) not to mention the super rad ps1 and ps2 games of yore like Star Wars Jedi Power Battles, Champions of Norrath and SSX Tricky. Now i'm wondering what to get next?

So yeah if any of you guys have game suggestions for Gamecube or the PS12345 definitely mention some! and if you're retro game collecting let's hear about your collections!

I have an SNES, GameGear, PS1 and PS2. Haven't fired them up at all though, currently not allowing the kids to play video games.

I still have my sega cd-x, ps2, and gamecube wired up to a 36" CRT (tangled, dusty, and stored in a pile under the table like the creators intended):

I actually fired up the gamecube just the other day because I knew I could get the missile expansion outside of the charge beam area but on Prime Remastered on the Switch I couldn't get it. I had to springball bomb jump to get up there, but on the original it's just a dbj + unmorph.

This one:

ExciteBike has to be the best game of all time - Regular Nintendo
NBA Jamz tournament addition - Super Nintendo
Goldeneye and Perfect Dark - Nintendo 64
Super Monkey Ball - Gamecube
Fighting Force - PS1

Just a handful of games that quickly came to mind.

I enjoyed the Zelda games on N64, played them with my sons. I especially loved ocarina of time but Majora’s mask was fun as well

Emulators make sense, sure. But there is just something about collecting the games that I find enjoyable.
