Default Eminem, Vanilla Ice, Ja Rule and Pras, what they all have in common with EverQuest

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this is quality enough for general chat, because so many people should be able to appreciate it, and have a little laugh.
Though if it's better off in off-topic, I understand.

Quite a few of us have heard 'game' sounds and sound bytes used in other games, and popular media. The under water breathing/bubble effect of Duke Nukem 3d comes to mind, or how about the Doom door opening/closing?

Well today I stumbled across a little gem that hit home for me.
Da Hip Hop Witch (definitely look at the cast lineup!) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0245943/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

In the first minute of this film(particularly the first twenty-five seconds), you should be able to recognize a very familiar back ground/ambient sound.
Links(Be patient and give them thirty seconds to load if necessary):

Enjoy, don't forget to turn up the volume.

Makes you wonder, did Sony get credit for it? Could the film makers even afford to pay them [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]?

Great find!
It's likely that these sounds (foley effects) are not the property of Sony. Often times, film makers will pay an audio bank for permission to use a specific sound in their movie/show. I'm not sure exactly how this works for games, but I presume it is similar. Sometimes, audio editors include a certain audio byte as an inside joke to each other, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdbYsoEasio

I have noticed a similar sound effect that is being used ubiquitously, and that is the "mining" sound fx from World of Warcraft.

I first noticed this sound in a scene from The Darjeeling Limited, when the train breaks down and the three brothers disembark to go walk up a hillside. The sound fx is being used to describe someone tapping at the rail track, BUT I KNOW WHAT IT REALLY IS.

THERE'S AN ORC MINING COPPER

I have also heard that same sound twice in the television show Vikings.

this topic gets posted once every few months. theyre stock sounds so no sony doesn't get credit for using them. funny thing is sheer amount of stock sounds used in EQ.. almost every classic mob/ambient sound/spell can be heard in other media.

there was a football commercial this holiday that opened with an american flag simultaneous with the 'inventory bag sound' from everquest playing as it flapped in the wind.

fun to hear these sounds elsewhere.

since we're posting links, here's a few discussions on it:
