Someone was running a 1/1000 chance to get a fungi, you could roll for 100pp and if you hit the lucky number the "dealer" was looking for, you won yourself a fungi!

Players who might not have even had the fungi were gambling that people wouldn't hit, and when someone did... and the "dealer" inevitably had "connection issues" and thats a whole headache/petition/RMT concern/etc.

So yeah, no gambling except for a safe website where I occasionally entertain myself. Nilbog did at one stage think about adding a casino bot, to help as a platsink as much as anything else... but it was before Velious was completely released, not classic, effort required, didn't happen for many reasons (yet).

The reluctance to add an official gambling feature due to these difficulties is understandable. Balancing the desire to offer interesting content and features with maintaining a fair, safe and enjoyable gaming environment is a constant challenge for game developers

Would be cool if it got added eventually. I remember Brad (I think it was Brad) saying in an interview that they had wanted to add gambling NPCs to the casino rooms on the second floor in Highkeep but never got around to it (I think the quote is in the IRC logs thread that's currently going in the Screenshots forum). So technically you could argue it was a planned classic feature that they never got around to.
