If you aren't using a ring binder of printed maps, or at least trying to gauge where you are from your /loc position on the wiki... you're not playing properly.

Quality of life in EQ didn't exist in 1999-2000, and you're here for classic right?

DeyBreak servers are available if not <3
Classic? You mean like not being able to bind in TD? Oh wait. . .

I use a second computer with the wiki pulled up and still get lost AF sometimes. The /loc can be very confusing at times but easy to place your position on the map, once you figure it out. I’m not good enough to just use /loc to figure out where I’m going. It’s ass backwards in my head and takes a lot of getting used to. Practice makes perfect?

First number is North and south . , or top of map and bottom of map.

Second number is east west, or side to side on the map.

Hardest thing about /loc is that it isn't an X Y coordinate it is a Y X coordinate which is just murderous.

X being east west and Y being north south.

It messes me up so bad.

Even worse...it’s (Y, -X) compared to the coordinate planes we learned in math class. It’s doable, though.

Honestly the best solution, get out there and explore...there are extremely few places in game I don't have memorized from my time playing on live back in the day (with p99 play time refreshing memory)

Back in the day (True Classic) there not only were no in game maps but you couldn't alt-tab or get around the UI to access a browser. Not only did we walk up hill both ways in the snow but we typically had a binder nearby with printed out maps.

I have most of the zones mostly memorized now - something is wrong with my brain... oh wait, its EQ that's wrong with it!

Using the wiki maps has always worked well for me though OP, they are accurate and have good info on them

Got my first printer just to do that. Three ring binder with sleeves and dividers.
Scribbled notes about placeholders/spawn times/Locs/loot drops.
Good times, first game I ever did online research for.
