Thanksgiving weekend login server issues?

I've noticed since about Wednesday that like 80% of the time when I try to join the server I get the "unknown error has occurred" message, and I just have to keep trying over and over and eventually it works. Seems totally random when it decides to let me in or not.

Once I'm actually in the game, everything's fine, but if I try to switch accounts I have to repeat this process of logging in over and over until it works, which takes like ten minutes.

I've read before this is a server-side issue, but is there anything at all I can try? Already restarted cable\router, reset pc, etc..

If you setup Middlemand (login helper) it gets around the login problem and you can login

Instructions and download on the github page (need to edit eqhost.txt)

Once setup correctly, you'll only see p99 servers

FWIW, it even works under winxp (Yeah I play on an old winxp computer sometimes)

Side note: This also seems to have totally fixed my issue of crashing while camping to character select. No clue why it would have affected that, but normally I crash about 1 out of every 3 camp attempts after the 30 sec countdown ends, but testing this out I've successfully done it over 30 times now.

So all in all a great little thing for changing characters as well as accounts. Curious what it's actually doing

If you have a VPN, just change servers or use it - instead of making changes to your software for middleman. I'm in favor of the least hack possible to get p99 up and running (does your hack introduce new crashes?).

They seem to be runing out of Boston, so try to VPN as close to there as possible, or use your VPN smart location.

This can also lower ping. ISPs are inspecting packets.

When that DNS virus/hack was going on a month or so ago for several other site I use were affected, I was not affected by my VPN usage. Just be aware that a lot of companies are hacking VPN blocking without error messages.
