Default Classic vs Non-classic

As someone who has played off and on throughout the years, there's plenty of things in P99 that have been implemented as QoL improvements.

Such an example would be PBAoE limitations put in place to limit "zone disruptions" which is clearly not classic but is implemented anyway. So why in the world would P99 devs opt to hurt not 1, but 3 classes simultaneously with the removal of the pet window?

What is the reasoning behind this? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Because it never existed in classic and enables an advantage players were never intended to have.

Look up old pbaoe guides that say a pull off 10 npcs is a good pull too. They gave plenty of reasons for that change, and rightly so.

Better go remove /tt and /rt and corpse timers too.
------------------------------
January 8, 2002 3:00 am
------------------------------
- Added /ttell. This will send a tell to the player character that is
currently your target. The command will also allow corpses as a valid
target. /ttell'ing a player's corpse will auto-tell that player (this
was actually patched earlier along with an emergency patch)
------------------------------
February 13, 2002 3:00 am
------------------------------
- NPC and PC corpses can now be /considered to find out how long until
they decay, and PC corpses additionally tell you how long you have to
resurrect them
- The timer for corpses is now seven days for any corpse over level
five, whether the player is on-line or off-line or any combination of
the two
------------------------------
March 19, 2002
------------------------------
- Added /rtarget function (can be used as /rt). This function targets
the last character to send you a /tell. It follows all of the rules for
/target

info found here: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/history/patches.html
and here: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/hist...es-2002-1.html

Also...
When will our yew leaf ground spawn be fixed ?
Or correct durations on food / drink so we can enjoy the expensive food sold by othmirs?

Edit... I don't remember what the original decay time for corpses were but we better get that fixed too!

That's funny because I was definitely in some classic AoE groups in Karnors. P99 - selectively classic

A good pull is subjective. The limits simply didn't exist as per patch notes dating all the way back to EQ's original patch notes. The very first limit to Bard's PBAoEs didn't exist until 2002.

"- Bard AE songs now have vertical limit of 50 feet. This is also the
case for Mass Group Buff"

As such this is a non-classic improvement for other classes implemented by P99 devs. So the removal of a non-classic improvement for pet classes makes no sense.

I'm still waiting for them to implement a hard zone time to even the playing field across all machines. Fte race for golem when having to zone is highly advantageous to those with fast machines.

Listen, if you can't come to terms here with changes the team makes, you are just going to have a bad time. Some things are a judgement call between "classic to the letter" and "recreating the classic experience".

Rooted ToV a prime example. Is zone line pulling a dragon to entrance solo instantly upon spawn the classic experience? Or is crawling to it? It is the raiding community that forced their hand here.

So finger pointing to things not removed yet that are not classic as an argument to keep other not classic features is a poor one. Look at the 10 years of patches, the server has taken a lot of work. They are working towards a finished product, so just prepare for future features to be removed or implemented.

I think the reason you are seeing a lot of complaints is that it existed on P99 for so long, everyone got used to it. If it had never existed you would see zero complaints. This is truth.

I do like the fact you guys made these recent changes as it shows you care about creating the true classic EQ experience. You made these changes knowing the above too.

There are other things that I hope to see addressed that could be just as big. Thanks for all the work you guys do! In the end it comes down to creating a true classic experience. I have always looked at Blue as the beta of P99.

At this point in time the staff of P99 has achieved a more classic experience than Daybreak.
