The bible is obviously a metaphor from ancient philosophers on a way to live your life. These were the original philosophers that used stories as a general source to influence humanity to progress. One of the common metaphors used today is Jonah being swallowed by a whale or fish. Most likely it didn't happen but, there is a message in the story.

On the subject of God, I don't really know. I agree with Deathrydar in the sense that "God" doesn't have a black book and making marks. I think ultimately the big bang is more a realistic perspective since randomness seems to be a common creator in our universe. I think they are finding this out more and more with the octonions.

Regarding the OP, there is no way to prove or disprove the existance of a god or gods. I can't say with certitude that a god doesn't exist due to the point in the previous sentence, but I think it's extremely unlikely that one exists. I am, however, open to reconsidering the question if presented with verifiable convincing evidence (I do not accept "you just need to have faith" as a sufficeint reason to believe).

Søren Kierkegaard, "God's Existence Cannot Be Proved"
Quote:
E.g., consider Edmund Gosse's account of his father's struggle to reconcile Charles Lyell's Principles of Geology with the biblical creation story. (Lyell's paleontology greatly influenced Charles Darwin.) Edmund's father claimed that God created the complete fossil record on earth at the time of the creation of the universe as a test of man's faith.

I will not debate the existence of this/it/he/she , but In my own personal experience I have seen people from the USA, LatinAmerica, Europe, Asia and all countries within it worship this god.

If it has been said before, so let me reiterate it.

So in a sense, it exists, verily and in physicality.
