Have you tried casting flame lick? That's a pretty good spell. Maybe you don't have the fire beetle eye you need for it to work. It's easy to miss since there's no fire beetles where the best rangers are from. Try using your track skill in the Commonlands, Karanas, or around Qeynos. Good luck with your ranger! It's a really rewarding class if you stick with it for the first 60 levels.

- Innate play dead ability like a possum
Nah. If our root and snare spells didn't cast like they are level 9 equivalent I'd say we're more than fit to play crowd control and pulling as-is. I'm fucking livid that Shamans can land their level 14 ROOT spell better than I can land any of mine. Shaman Tash + root is broke.

rangers just fucking suck at all levels, in any expansion, oh you got endless quiver? grats your the same dps as a warrior.
verant devs hated rangers, p99 devs hate rangers, people who play rangers hate themselves irl. rangers actually have to suck by design, if you give them literally anything else they become OP in the pre-luclin metas thats it.

the ability to immobilize an enemy without counting as a root is still a root
and they can already cast root and snare, on top of that sow. Sow was changed from 39 to 30. That's the big ranger buff. rangers really are masters of all things outdoors, its just that there is like 2 "outdoor non-dungeon zones" in the entire "classic" game that matter at all.
