Root...why is it garbage?

I was soloing a high blue con last night, cast Entill x3 times, each time it lasted less than 6 seconds and I died. So it goes with RNG, but anecdotely I agree with the other posters here that level difference makes a large difference on how long root (and charm) will hold. I assume that the targets MR also makes a difference, if it follows charm mechanics.
