An Overton Window is a range of ideologies that either you or society as a whole deems acceptable.

They can shift towards extremes.

So what you perceive to be "normal" is actually textbook extreme.

You got it backwards. What you consider normal is far right. Private healthcare system in the richest country in the world? Vast levels of military spending while cutting our paltry social safety net?

I do agree the Overton Window is waay to the left on social issues at the moment.

That's the whole shell game. Move the social issues to the left to get people to think the left are a bunch of wackos. Meanwhile, we are the most rightwing on economy in the world of advanced nations.
