P99 STEAMDECK STEP BY STEP
Step 1. downloading the program
Go to archive.org/details/EQP99V46 Click on Zip under download options to download the zipped file (while this is downloading if you don't have a program to unzip files such as peazip now would be a good time to get one) Open the zipped file by clicking on the downloaded file Right click the folder click extract all here to extract the files to this folder (it is important to take a moment to write down your folder path) Download the most current patch from the p99 website open your downloads right click the patch file mouse over more click extract all to and select your eq folder that you unzipped your files to earlier it will ask you if you would like to replace the files as they are already there click yes as you are replacing the old files with the new patched files (if you do not get this message you did something wrong) Step 2. Selecting the correct files for launching the game Open the Steam client In the bottom left hand corner click the plus sign that says add a game select add a non steam game Select the browse icon at the bottom Remember that path you wrote down? here is where you would use it. Select the drop down menu that is next to look in Now select the path you used to get to your folder location (mine is home-->deck-->downloads-->eqlite) once you get to the correct folder click open and find a file called "Launch titanium bat." Make sure to click the ad selected programs tab Step 3. Launch the game head over to gaming mode go to your non steam games tab and look for Launch Titanium.bat click the gear icon for the options and scroll down to properties scroll down to compatibility and check the box that says "force the use of a specific steam play compatibility tool" once that is done choose proton 7.0-4 from the drop down list. Go ahead and launch the game Step 4. correcting the resolution (if its bad mine was not) Open your designated eq folder and find the file "eqclient.ini" open it with KWrite scroll down to the videomode section of the file if not allready change width and width windowed to 1200 change height and heightwindowed to 800 if the text is too small in the game remember you can use the command /chatfontsize 1-8 (i.e. /chatfontsize 5 will set it to 5) And there you have it eq should be setup and ready to play on deck minus mapping your controls to the steamdeck controller if thats what you want to use and that should really be what you are comfortable with!

Anyone besides me have issues with exiting out of P99 on Steam Deck? It just freezes on a black screen.

Would be interested to learn about your gamepad config.. Would you perchance be willing to share it as a community configuration? Or can that not be done with "non steam" games? Maybe it can if the game is added tot he decks launcher?

But if it does, hit the steam button then select home and you're in business

I looked and couldn't find an import/export option, only to share with community, if you know of a way to share let me know and I'll do it. I'm an old hand at this kind of thing, been using the steam controller for years with just about every game

I can’t speak to how well it works compared to anyone else’s configuration but I like it for my casual play style. Let me know how it goes and I’ll try to answer any questions if you have any. Thanks! P.S. I named my EQ game as “EQ Project 1999”
