Just started happening to me in the last few days too. Game freezes when zoning, pull up Task Manager and when I click that it shoots me back to the frozen screen in game, only option is to do a hard restart.

This started happening to me about a week ago, so I checked Firewall setting and eqgame.exe didn't have an exemption. Did that and fixed it.

Just to add to this. I also had to set my EQ Client to run in Windows XP compatibility mode to stop crashing. Then I ran into an issue where I constantly got to the server select and it was completely empty. Added a Windows Security Essentials exception for the eqgame.exe and the directory that the game runs from and haven't had either issue since.
