They could have prevented "some" of being forcively starved to death and eating or feeding themselves to their children by NOT hiding food when Stalin intended to starve them to death for their potential to oppose him politically......

If by "some" do you mean to say, that they couldve more quickly seen the starvation through to its grisly end? If so, then youre right....they couldve got the starving to death over with quicker if they didnt hide food when it started.
