Probably requires a lot of work to fix this. But yea, bolts were made into DD's at some point. Classically bolts should fire from caster and actually follow and hit the target. More like a ranger arrow that looks like a fireball.

That and also you could cast bolts with no target, and a bolt would travel all the way across the zone, if it hit a mob along the way it would dmg it.
I've been told this actually is already fixed for mage bolts. It sounds like there still may be some small issues with them. Still, just using the same fix on wizard bolts seems like it would be an improvement.

Correct. There was a recent fix (Here) for Mage bolts. They were practically unusable before.

Currently, if you move immediately following the casting of your bolt spell, your bolt will not land. However, they work much more reliably than before.

What is wrong with wiz bolts?

Are the like mage bolts? Are they supposed to be?

I do not know the answers.

Yeah, they are supposed to be like mage bolts. You can see some evidence in the 2nd post. They currently are like mage bolts used to be on p99, just an instant dd.

Bolts should hit anything in Los too. So if you bolt in a room with a mob infront of you, at the back mob, it hits the first.

Was epic for newb mistakes on live.
I think that's true, but I think that's a more complicated issue. I think the main point of this thread is trying to get wizard bolts to have the current/future fixes that mage bolts have/are getting.

Never looked into it. Thats researching spdat files. Spell histories. Very tedious for someone who never does that.

I do not even know all the spell ids that need looked in to.

Graffe's Spell List from 2000:
http://web.archive.org/web/200009181...lls/spells.htm

Only 3 bolts listed 1-60

Frost
Fire
Lightning

Quote:
Frost Bolt
Being a bolt spell, this will generally do more damage than any other offensive spells. However, the drawback is that you must keep line of sight with your target whilst you cast. This means that if a person, tree, wall or any other object gets in the way, it will be cancelled.
Quote:
Firebolt
Another bolt spell. Remember they give higher damage, but often miss their target due to line of sight.
Quote:
Lightning Bolt
Lighting based bolt spell. Again, high damage but harder to pull off than a DD.
no other mentions to bolt spells. I See a clicky for Fire Bolt:
http://wiki.project1999.com/Blazing_Bracer_of_Fennin_Ro

And a weapon in velious that procs (post-upgrade) Fire Bolt:
http://wiki.project1999.com/Dagarn's_Tail

Not sure if they are handled differently than the cast spell.
