We once had a guild on p99 called Blackwater and that was okay. I'm in no way comparing the severity of the atrocities committed by Blackwater to what happened in the holocaust, but the staff had no problem with it even though it was in slightly poor taste. It's unfair to assume that the guild name "Holocaust" is referring to the events that transpired during world war 2, so it should be allowed because it can be interpreted in multiple ways. If there was a guild called "Jew Killers" I'm pretty sure that would be considered offensive because there's only one reasonable way to interpret that, so it wouldn't be allowed. That's just my opinion though.

Also, Wehrmacht/MakeYouMad/Tmoney is an idiot. Just like with his 9/11 conspiracy theories and his eugenics crap, he can't find one peer-reviewed study that supports his views. He's still bitter that a jew got accepted into the college he applied for when he got rejected, so he blames everything on the jews. He's actually so paranoid that he's started to assume that I'm a jew (he frequently uses this to try to discredit what I say in IRC and even sometimes on these forums, as if being a jew is somehow a bad thing).

It is certainly not OK. Can't understand why the devs and mods tolerate this guild name. On the other hand, server isn't up and the guild hasn't been formed yet. Still hope they will intervene.

I don't get how any grown-up can approve of that name. Is there a different attitude in the US towards WW II crimes than there is in Europe? Flaming is all right, kids... but "Holocaust" isn't. It's right on the top 10 list of guild names which shouldn't be allowed, together with "Child Porn", "Praise 9/11" et cetera.

Ashkenazi or Ashkenaz is the Hebrew name for Germany. Ashkenazi Jews (most of the jews today) are just German people converted to an African religon in the Middle Ages. Thats right guys, Jesus was black! So when one says 6 million jews died its the same as saying 6 million Germans died. Over 50 million people died in WW2. Raising one figure based on "ethnicity" or ignoring one based on the same is difficult for me to understand. When anyone dies its a terrible thing. The holocaust however didnt wipe out the Jews. However manifest destiny did nearly wipe out and entire race of people, the Native Americans. In a world where how much money an athete makes is all over the news, yet other important events get no attention its easy to understand the reason why we only ever here about one holocaust. History always repeats itself though. Rich white people fighting other rich white people about stuff only rich white people would fight about.

Well, at least in Europe it is only associated with the murder of 6 million people. And do you really think these guys didn't chose the name in order to provoke other players? Of course they did. If they had named their guild "Nuclear Holocaust", that would have described a completely different concept. No problem! But the bare word "Holocaust" clearly refers to the mass murder. Wikipedia quote regarding its public use: "The mini-series Holocaust is credited with introducing the term into common parlance after 1978.[12]"

I didn't want to bring this up, because the devs have better things to do. Still, you would never want to be connected to the term "Holocaust" (except you're a neo-Nazi).

Don't like it? Check the sources at the bottom of the wiki which are required for any questionable content. The rest tends to eventually get edited out when there are no sources. Your argument is invalid.
