Ping varies widely
I recently switched my ISP from the local cable company to Google Fiber. Right after it was hooked up, I checked my ping: down to ~60 when it had been ~85. Not as dramatic as I had hoped, but still cool.
Since then I noticed that sometimes my ping was showing upwards of 200. Not so cool anymore. This never happened with the cable ISP - it never fluctuated much more than +/- 5. Here's a snapshot of a GOOD tracert: [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I'll update with another image when it goes to crap again, but basically instead of jumping from the 1ms range to the 30ms range, it goes to 200 or so. I know the basics of what this is showing me... but I'm not sure how to go about fixing it, if there's any fixing to be done. Love to get some wisdom from internet sages. | ||
