I decided to enhance this by adding a ColorSwatch template that you can add to the category pages.

To use, find the hex code of the correct color. Go to the category you want to add it to, edit/create, and fill in this template:

Code:
{{ColorSwatch
| hex =
}}
The hex code should not include the # sign (for those of you who understand how that works).

See it in action here: https://wiki.project1999.com/Category:Fashion:_Ruby_Red

(I changed rubicite to ruby red instead of tamarillo [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] of course the color I found that matched was called 'chili red' but you know what, I don't even care.)

Good stuff Sorn! I'll try to add some ColorSwatches myself when I find the time.

this is wonderful. but i must wonder could the category itself inherit a rectangle on the master list?

So Fashion: Ruby Red [Color Rectangle]

apologies if this is too complex

It would be possible if the wiki had the color library AND we could modify the code, but then we would need to ask the wiki to differentiate between a regular category and a fashion category, which would be on the level of messing with the wiki code itself.

So something like...

1) fill a variable with the category title (Category:Fashion: Ruby Red)
2) strip Category:Fashion: from the string stored in the variable
3) have the wiki look up the name of the color in the color library to get the hex code
4) create a CSS-styled div to append onto the end that has the hex code obtained from the color name

This isn't something I can do as a regular wiki user, unfortunately.
