Default Crashing on Server Select screen

Hello everyone,

Getting an odd crash on the server select screen. Screen shot attached.

The error is similar to the following :

1. Help! When I try to run eq, at some point before entering the game, I get an error that looks something like this:The instruction at 0x029110ce referenced memory at 0xfffffffc. The memory could not be read

I have tried the resolution for that, i.e messing around with the eqclient.ini to change the screen resolution such as ;

WindowedWidth=800
WindowedHeight=600
Width=800
Height=600
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
FullscreenRefreshRate=0
WidthWindowed=800
HeightWindowed=600

Tried a lot of different combinations too, nothing currently working.

Please advise if you have seen this before

Many thanks in advance, have a great day

rename your "eqclient.ini" to something like "eqclient.ini.bkp.ini"

launch EQ, it will create a default "eqclient.ini"

let me know how it goes

I had same issue starting today; never before.

Replacing ini with a backup or removing it does nothing. Eventually got to log in via restoring entire eq directory and restarting- however very next log out got stuck again.

Move your install out of Program Files. The client is unable to write changes to your ini file - hence why you're not seeing a change when replacing or removing it and the fix only lasting for one login. Move the install, and rename/delete the ini.

It is not in program files Random unique directory. I also checked and set everyone to full control on entire directory.

Issue persists.

Pulled entire wineq2 and eq folder from working system to this machine, and it persists.

Issue persists.

No idea what changed at this point.

I seem to be having the same issue. I can log in on XP SP2, but it only works once and i cant zone or it crashes and then i get stuck at server screen. SP3 gives me a memory error.

Everything was working fine. The only thing that seemed to change was i installed a windows update: Feature update to Windows 10, version 21H1

I'm going to try a reinstall and report back, but i feel like it is something else.

Ok, i uninstalled that update and can login in fine now with SP3 with no changes. No errors.

Edit: yep 100% that was what it was. logged in like 5 times now. set all my old configs back from backups. had nothing to do with resolution or service pack.

I'm curious if you have Nvidia/Intel or Amd/Radeon or some other mix? I wonder if it is specific to AMD/Ryzen CPUs and/or Radeon GPUs, which is my setup.
