Default Empty Server List on Arch Linux

Hello friends,

I am attempting to return to EQ...from many many moons ago. I no longer use Windows and only use Linux.

I have an updated Arch Linux system:
Code:
 : Arch Linux x86_64
ThinkPad T430
Kernel: 4.18.9
DE: Xfce & i3
CPU: Intel i5-3320M (4) @ 3.300GHz
GPU: Intel 3rd Gen Core processor
Memory: 7798MiB
I installed the EQ Titanium 5 disk collection, following directions from here:
https://www.project1999.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=2651

I have used this script:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
# if you don't have the script's cwd set, you get XML errors
export WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine/
cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Sony/EverQuest
# Bind to one core of the processor and launch.
# The client will spew a lot of errors, especially every time
# you target a mob, hence the stdout/stderr redirect.
# You probably want to leave off the 2>/dev/null until you're satisfied
# everything is working.
taskset -c 0 padsp wine eqgame.exe patchme 2>/dev/null
from Zallarenya.

I am able to boot into the client, I'm able to login using my username and password and to see the news and credits but I am unable to see or select any servers. Also there is no chat available in that client (not sure if there ever is) There are no servers at all visible.

The Only error I encouter in my terminal is
Code:
([ERROR]) - Mouse Wheel supported = TRUE
What i've done; I've:

-updated my system
-turned off iptables (firewall)
-rebooted
-reinstalled a few times
-Searched the FAQ here
-as well as searched duckduckgo searches which produced one relevant result, but ended fruitless. That link is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/project1999...y_server_list/
-I have also done a listing of all .ini files to see if one of them had the mouse settings (not that I *think* that this should be the culprit, but I wanted to check anyhow) but I cannot find a mouse setting in any of the .ini files.
-I have also tried loading the game with and without a mouse.

So, I am wondering what my next step is? I don't have a second system to install EQ on to see if I can get the server list.

I look forward to any help you might be able to offer.

Have a great evening/day!

Well, I ended up reinstalling my operating system (was going to do this anyway ) I'm using slackware and manjaro. I've installed it again in manjaro (an arch based distro) and still the same thing! No servers.

However, depending on how i launch I can also get these errors:
Code:
"UIErrorLog created at Mon Oct 01 00:21:21 2018
[Mon Oct 01 00:21:21 2018] Warning: file EQLSUI.xml not found in directory UIFiles\default\. Attempting to use file from Default skin.
[Mon Oct 01 00:21:21 2018] Couldn't open or read UIFiles\default\EQLSUI.xml
[Mon Oct 01 00:21:21 2018] Error reading XML.
[Mon Oct 01 00:21:21 2018] Error loading skin: loading default skin instead.
[Mon Oct 01 00:21:21 2018] Warning: file EQLSUI.xml not found in directory UIFiles\default\. Attempting to use file from Default skin.
[Mon Oct 01 00:21:21 2018] Couldn't open or read UIFiles\default\EQLSUI.xml
[Mon Oct 01 00:21:21 2018] Error reading XML."
I'd really like to enjoy this game again if someone could be so kind as to send in me in the right direction. Please don't hesitate! :-)

So, I found the Man in the Middle work around for the servers. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
Why this didn't come up with my many duckduckgo searches, I cannot say.
Anyhow, that part is working!
Now, I am having trouble with during character selection I'm told I need to update my spell files (which I did)...so I'm trying again.
Not sure if I need to copy the contents of the p99 folder SpellEffects and replace ONLY THOSE files in the .wine...EverQuest/SpellEffects folder, or if I should just replace folder for folder. I guess We'll see.
Is there any way that I can post and the posts appear without the need for a moderator to review them? Blood sample? Admission to past crimes? Anything? :-P

Default I'm feeling all alone here....LMAO

Ok, so for my spell effects being outdated.
I tried the multiple suggestions on the forum, resetting router, wifi passwd, ethernet cables etc.
Then I found a post (i now can't find) which had one commenter who suggested that he missed changing the DSETUP.dll to dsetup.dll (for linux). Well, in my case, I actually had both. So I deleted the DSETUP.dll and retained the dsetup.dll...and so far we're good. Not sure about logging in or anything yet, but the character creation is normal so far. Just got the same laptop, had the same problem trying to connect using gentoo, would have to log in and out multiple times (with a wired connection). Had the same problem with debian as well. On arch it's been different so far, only using wifi the servers have been showing up the first try every time with no special steps having been taken. It really seems quite random and I have no explanation. When I had a desktop I ran into this problem using arch.

I had the empty server select issue for years. Eventually it caused me to stop playing all together.

Finally found a solution via Zaela, apparently the UDP packets from the login server I was recieving was out of order.

eqemu-login-helper by Zaela:

a gist of how I'm using it to launch p99:
